What is Greenlight?
Greenlight is the money and safety app built with families in mind. With Greenlight’s debit card and app, parents can pay allowance, assign chores, and help their kids learn to earn, save, spend wisely, and invest.
Is it different from a traditional debit card?
Greenlight is bigger than a debit card. It’s an all-in-one money and safety app for families to teach kids and teens to manage money, keep everyone safe, and protect senior loved ones.
As a Greenlight account holder, you can:
- Send money quickly
- Turn the card off via the app, if needed
- Receive alerts whenever the card is used
- Set store-level spend controls to help kids learn to budget
- Automate allowance payments

Is there an app for kids?
Kids and parents log in to the same Greenlight app but have two different experiences. Parents can send money, set flexible controls, and more. Kids learn how to manage their own money while staying safe and connected to the family.
Is Greenlight safe? Is there a minimum age?
We support kids and adults of all ages. No minimum (or maximum) age here.
Greenlight Card Accounts are issued by Community Federal Savings Bank, member FDIC and the funds are FDIC-insured up to the applicable limits. Greenlight Card Accounts also come with fraud protection through Mastercard’s Zero Liability Protection Policy.
Greenlight also blocks unsafe spending categories, sends real-time transaction notifications, lets parents turn cards off at any time, and gives parents flexible ATM and spend controls.
How can kids and teens receive money?
Kids can request and receive money instantly from you right in their app. They can also use their pay link to receive money from friends and family — with your approval on every payment. First job? Set up direct deposit to get paid into their Greenlight account.
Does Greenlight work with mobile payments?
Yes! As soon as your child’s card has been activated, they can add their Greenlight card details to Apple Pay or Google Pay to tap and pay in an instant.
